Ultra runner Andy Mouncey at Riverside Junior School
Thursday, 12 December 2013
Ultra runner Andy Mouncey dropped into Riverside Junior School to help pupils set new personal goals.
Andy is competing in The Spine Race in January running the full 270 miles of the Pennine Way in under 8 days and the whole school will be following the race through an online tracker he will wear during the race.
The school will use this activity as their sponsored challenge for Sport Relief 2014 when staff and children will also run a total of 270 miles and as a warm up the whole school ran or walked a mile around Calder Holmes Park on the morning of Andy's visit,
Andy is also a motivational speaker and challenged pupils to set ‘Big Scary Goals’ showing them how to monitor their progress towards achieving their personal targets in special diaries.
Riverside Headteacher Val Eggleton told the HebWeb, "Andy is a very inspiring speaker so it was the perfect way to combine physical exercise and setting personal goals that will help our pupils persevere when they are outside their comfort zones."
