Lamplighter Festival
Tuesday, 29 October 2013
Lamplighter Festival is the Calder Valley's newest annual event and Handmade Parade's latest baby - due to arrive on 23rd November. Handmade Parade are gearing up to create another magical, mystical and scintellating evening based around the myth of the Lamplighter.
"The Lamplighter is an untouchable mysterious figure who will join us as we parade the streets and then 'light the lamps' – a sign to herald back the light and the warmth to the darkest months of the year," Hannah Merriman, Handmade Parade's Co-Ordinator told the HebWeb.
"Join us as we fill the streets of Todmorden with handmade lanterns, fire performers, lit-up street bands, illuminated installations, torch-lit belly dancers and a night market."
The event will feature music by Skiband, Mr. Wilson's Second Liners, Northern Lights Street Orchestra, Handmade Samba and Stilt Batteristas. And present perfromances and installations by Flame Oz, Walk the Plank, Spacecadets, Thingumajig Theatre, Todmorden Belly Dance and Bryan Tweddle of Winter Light Festival.
There will be open workshops and everyone is invited to come along, make a lantern and join in the parade. The dates and times are:
