Kerry McQuade joined Jill Liddington, and friend Jenny Greenwood, for day six of her three week sponsored canal walk from Yorkshire to London, raising money for the British Thyroid Foundation, a small charity very close to Jill's heart.
"We did 16 sweltering Cheshire miles from Bollington to Congleton along some of the country's most beautiful canal towpaths, " Kerry told the HebWeb.
Jill, who has had hypothyroidism for two years, is in excellent shape, getting through a lot of water and suntan lotion. Jenny had been giving Jill well-earned foot massages at the end of each day.
"I encourage everyone to donate a little something on her Just Giving page - and maybe join her somewhere along the route!" said Kerry.

Historian Jill Liddington to walk canals to London
Next Saturday, a 200-mile sponsored walk to raise funds for BTF sets out from Hebden Bridge - heading along the Rochdale Canal, for Manchester, the Midlands and eventually London.
The idea for the walk came from Jill Liddington, who has had a thyroid condition (hypothyroidism) for two years. She wants to raise money for BTF, a very small health charity, and to increase public awareness about thyroid disorders.
The walk assembles at 10 am, Saturday 6th July by the humpback bridge at end of Holme Street. As well BTF banner and balloons, send-off speakers include award-winning actress Alexandra Mathie and Karl Boggis, Mayor of Hebden Royd.
Le Grand Depart is at 10.30 am, with walkers strolling along the Rochdale Canal to Todmorden for a canal-side picnic lunch and a pop-up speaker for ‘incredible edible’ Todmorden. In the afternoon, walkers head out via Summit to Littleborough, for tea & cake at Demetris Café.
There are regular buses and trains (eg to/from Walsden) along the route, so this is definitely a roll-on-roll-off walk, to suit everyone’s time commitments and levels of fitness. Saturday’s walk ends at Hollingworth Lake for the first overnight stop. Sunday 7th it reaches Manchester, and on Tuesday 9th walkers set out again - down the Ashton Canal, then heading south towards Marple, Bollington and Macclesfield.
