Report - Gala Quiz Night in aid of Freedom from Torture

Last Tuesday night, a group of Freedom from Torture supporters based in Calderdale held a Gala Quiz Night at the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge to raise funds for the charity. Over 70 people came to make up teams in a most enjoyable quiz run by Dave Boardman.

Tickets included a choice of delicious curries cooked by Will Prior and there was a raffle and an auction of gifts. Local businesses and other individuals donated prizes and Freedom from Torture would like to thank everyone who helped for their generosity. The event raised a total of over £270.

Calderdale‘s Freedom from Torture supporters’ group was formed in October 2012 and aims to raise vital funds for and awareness of the charity’s work. The group is still in its infancy and has been initially based in Hebden Bridge. Please get in touch if you wish to get involved.

The next event, a words and music evening, will be held on Saturday 18 May at The Fielden Centre in Todmorden. All welcome.
