Local coach to London TUC demo

There are still a few coach seats available on the Calderdale Save Our Services coach to the TUC demonstration in London next Saturday. They do need to be booked and paid for in advance however. Booking forms can be downloaded from the website or the campaign can be e-mailed at calderdalesosc@gmail.com.

Calderdale Save Our Services Campaign is playing a leading role in maximising support locally for the TUC's 'A Future That Works' National Demonstration on Saturday 20 October. This major demonstration will promote the Trades Union movement's policies for industry, services and jobs rather than austerity and savage cutbacks.

According to the TUC: "If the government keeps on with big spending cuts and austerity we face a lost decade. Even on their own terms government policies are failing. To close the deficit we need a healthy growing economy that generates tax income. But austerity has led to a vicious circle of decline.

"Instead of just letting the banks go back to business and bonuses as usual, we need policies that promote new and old industries."

Calderdale Save Our Services is organising a coach to London on 20 October with pick-up points in Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Halifax. We are aiming to offer travel to the demonstration at an affordable price - the cost will be £17 / £8 concessions per person. People wanting seats should e-mail calderdalesosc@gmail.com.

Calderdale Save Our Services is also appealing for additional donations towards coach hire costs and contributions from supporters who are unable to travel to London will be gratefully received. Again, supporters are urged to e-mail calderdalesosc@gmail.com with offers of donations.
