Rochdale Canal Festival: Families enjoy fishy tale in Mytholmroyd

Families enjoyed a fishy tale when artists and performers from Handmade Parade led them on a canal side adventure as part of the Rochdale Canal Festival in Mytholmroyd on Sunday, 19th August.

Children took part in puppet making sessions at St Michael’s Church in Mytholmroyd and then took their fish creations onto the tow-path for promenade performances and to help scientists Doctor Daphne and Professor Park solve the Mystery of the Trapped Geese.

Amongst the surprises along the way were a frustrated rabbit, a grumpy fox and a giant heron which was intent on catching a fish or two.

Other activities on offer during the day included willow weaving, poetry workshops and the chance to explore what lurks beneath with Nature in Focus.

Join in the parade fun in Mytholmroyd

Families will have the chance to take part in puppet making workshops and a parade as part of the Rochdale Canal Festival in Mytholmroyd on Sunday (19th August).

Handmade Parade artists will be making art with families and then taking them on an interactive walk down the canal towpath. Puppet making sessions will be held from 12 noon to 1.45pm and 2.15 to 3.45pm.
Those taking part will then be able to parade their artwork along the canal tow-path in the promenade performances at 2pm and 4pm and help solve the Mystery of the Trapped Geese.
The event is being held as part of the Rochdale Canal Festival and follows on from last year’s successful parade and performance in Mytholmroyd, which was led by Handmade Parade artists.
The fun starts at 12 noon at St Michael’s Church in Mytholmroyd and is free to take part in, thanks to support from Hebden Royd Town Council. Other activities during the day include willow weaving, poetry workshops and the chance to explore what lurks beneath with Nature in Focus.
