The Cream of the Blues coming to the Calder Valley next month
Thursday, 17 May 2012
On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of June, some of the very best musicians on the current British Blues scene will be heading to Hebden Bridge.
The first Hebden Bridge Blues Festival last summer pulled off the amazing feat of coming from nowhere and hitting the ground running with one of the most talked about festivals of the year providing a truly great atmosphere, superb entertainment and, of course, that spectacular scenery.
Continuing its popular policy of mixing well-known established artists with up and coming talent needing a showcase, the organisers have put together an exciting and eclectic array of musicians that should please even the most demanding of fans. Headliners Todd Sharpville, Cherry Lee Mewis, Marcus Bonfanti, Paddy Milner, Ben Poole and Mitch Laddie will be sharing the weekend of June 1st, 2nd and 3rd with crowd pullers the Revelators, Crosscut Saw, Hooson and several dozen others.
Also being welcomed back is the fabulous 'Women of the Blues' night which took the place by storm at the first Festival. The brilliant Cherry Lee Mewis, Jenna Hooson, Lucy Zirins and Fran McGillvray will be firing up the audience on their exclusive Sunday 3rd night at the Picture House.
There are also the many musicians who will be playing at free venues, or 'juke joints', around Hebden Bridge including the White Swan, Marshalls, Nelson's, Moyles and the Shoulder of Mutton. A feast of talent all over town with nearly forty bands in eight venues within a quarter of a mile of each other!
So, let's get the party started for the second Festival.
