Craig Whittaker arrested
Craig Whittaker, MP for the Calder Valley constituency which includes Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden, has been arrested for what the Sun describes as a "bust-up" with his son Lee, aged 24. This apparently took place on Boxing Day in Mytholmroyd at 10.30pm.
Our MP is currently on bail.
Hebden Royd councillor Susan Press, who is a candidate in our ward in the Calderdale election this May, told the Hebden Bridge Web: "Whatever the individual circumstances of this case people expect certain standards of MPs - particularly when they tell us they represent the Party of family values. Craig Whittaker is accountable to his constituents and I expect many will be raising the issue with him."
Conservative Craig Whittaker was elected MP at the General Election of June 2010, replacing Labour's Christine McCafferty who retired after three terms.
The Yorkshire Post says the alleged attack was outside the petrol station in Mytholmroyd
