Picture House is looking for film fans to help make a real community cinema
Hebden Royd Town Council is looking for film fans who can help us make the Picture House a real community cinema.
Town councillors are currently working in partnership to take over the management of the town's popular Picture House.
And a major part the strategy will be the re-launch of the Friends Of The Picture House. The group was originally formed in 1997 to safeguard the cinema at a time when it was under threat of being sold off to private developers.
Campaigners then succeeded in keeping the Picture House in the hands of Calderdale Council.
Now the Town Council is hoping people will once again come forward to offer their support in all kinds of different capacities.
A re-launch meeting is being planned in the autumn and people with spare time, skills and the wish to share in our commitment to making the Picture House better than ever once it transfers to Town Council ownership in spring 2012.
Anyone interested in helping the Friends and becoming part of an historic chapter in Hebden Royd's history should contact the Friends Of The Picture House.
The Friends will also be forming a committee and seeking nominations from anyone interested in playing a key role.
Coun Susan Press Chair of Picture House Committee said: 'The Town Council is committed to involving as many people in the community as we can to help us ensure the Picture House continues to thrive and become even more successful in the future.'
