New PA for community use in Hebden Royd
Performers, bands, event organisers in Hebden Royd can access a new community owned public address system, thanks to a grant form Calderdale Council.
The pa which consists of 12 channel mixing desk, amps, speakers, multi-core, microphones and mic stands was bought by a coalition of Friends of Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge Folk Roots, BIrchcliffe Centre and World on Your Doorstep after receiveing the grant in April.
It can be hired fairly cheaply by groups who have access to sound engineers - or who have attended a training course in its use.
"There are many groups in the area who are creative themselves or have events in which creativity ius a major factor," said Dave Boardman of the community owned pa group. "This small pa system should help those who are aleady putting events on and, hopefully, encourage more."
It was used at the Fair for Youth in Calder Holmes Park on 22 May.
Training sessions are being organised this summer, though dates have not yet been finalised. Anyone interested in using the system in the future shoulkd contact Dave Boardman by email on doddnazedave@yahoo.co.uk to book a place
