Hebden Bridge Station Exhibition

Tuesday, 27 July 2010

Each of the two waiting rooms at the station now hosts exhibitions, prepared by the Friends of Hebden Station, on the history of the railway in and around the Upper Calder Valley with prints and photos from 1845 to 1965. It is an important but often overlooked part of the town's Victorian heritage.

Hebden Bridge Station

Unusually for a main line working station, it has been preserved in its Victorian glory and restored to the colours of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway who built it and owned the line until 1922.

There is also an excellent, independent café in the old Parcels Office serving fresh and locally sourced food.

The poster printed for the exhibition was also produced in postcard format for the exhibition's launch and is available for purchase from the Station Cafe and the town's Information Centre.
