Cupid on the Cheap
Alternative Valentine’s Day at the Trades
If you’re fed up with the cynical price rises every Valentine’s Day but still want to celebrate Cupid’s day with your loved ones then the Trades Club is the place to go on Sunday night.
The club is running an alternative Valentine’s Night from 8pm for anyone who is in love but doesn’t want to spend a fortune on overpriced bunches of roses, who might just want to tell their families they love them and those nursing a broken heart are also welcome.
This year Valentine’s Day is on the same day as the Chinese New Year celebrations so there will bowls of Chinese food on offer included in the £3 admission price.
Families are especially welcome as there will be games and a DJ playing classics but Whitney Houston’s ‘I will Always Love You’ is on the long list of banned sloppy love songs
“Many people love the idea of telling their family they love them without having to pay a fortune to do so and many people who are single this year may want to go out but everything is to do with the commercial pressures of Valentine’s Day,” Trades General Manager Janet Oosthuysen told the Hebden Bridge Web.
“So we decided to have a safe, fun place for them all to escape all that stuff so come and dance your heart away rather than have it broken!”
