Update - £350 raised!
Pictured here, Clayton 'Cass' Varey, Head Coach at Tony's Ring, Hebden Bridge. Cass sparred for 120 rounds over 6 hours with more than 60 different people last Saturday, raising £350 for survivors of Haiti's earthquake. The money will be handed over to the Disasters Emergency Committee this week. My thanks go out to family, friends, club members and everyone who turned up to support the fundraiser — we hit the target for Haiti,
said Cass.
Retired amateur boxer and Head Coach at Tony's Ring, Clayton 'Cass' Varey will get back in the ring on Sun 7 February to raise funds for earthquake victims in the disaster-struck Caribbean island.
Boxing for 5 hours from 12 noon onwards, Cass will face any opponent for a 2 minute round for a £2 donation to the fundraiser. Everyone from the community, young or old, male or female, fit or not, is invited to participate in this event.
With almost 70 amateur fights under his belt, the Coach will not be punching back this time so it's a great opportunity for members of the community to have some fun in the ring whilst raising money for this important Appeal.
''We need 150 people to come down to the boxing club and get in the ring with me to raise £300. I'm hoping that club members, friends, neighbours and anyone who can make it there will take 2 minutes out to do this for the survivors of Haiti's earthquake' said Cass.
All proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee who respond in emergency situations to save lives and improve the health and environment of survivors.
The fundraiser starts at 12 noon on Sunday 7 February at Tony's Ring, Salem Mill, Central St. For more information, visit www.box4fitness.co.uk
