Lives Remembered
Frances Minto
From Steve Andrews: Frances died today, 13th May, peacefully at home after a long illness. She will be remembered for her involvement in many and various local causes, including the "open mic" evenings at the Stubbing Wharf, the Trades Club, Redacre bee group, the local disabled access campaign and map and lots more.
See post below from Catherine Putz for funeral arrangements
From Graham Hale: She inspired me as a Disabled person never to give up. We worked together on the step free map to help people not just with a disability. Then taking on councillors, bringing them to task, and they listened. I'll miss you. (14 May 2021)
From Richard Dalby: Very saddened to hear of the passing of lovely Fran. I'll always remember her as someone with a passion for life, for getting things done and not letting any obstacles in life get her down. She'd always be the first one up and dancing to a band at the Trades Club. Rest in peace Fran xxx 17 May 2021
From David Boardman: Fran was an active member of the Trades Club for several years. She was a committee member who took an active role. She was involved in organising some cabaret events and was a keen gig goer. She was also involved with The World on Your Doorstep festivals in Calder Holmes Park ... and evidence that disability does not stop activity - an example to those of us who are not disabled as well (I'm told) an inspiration to people with disabilities.
Sadly missed 17 May 2021
From Hebden Bridge Disability Access Forum, HBDAF Frances was a founder member of HBDAF in 2016, and one of our co-ordinators.
She inspired us with her passion, creativity and dynamism. She worked incredibly hard on our step-free map and guide to Hebden Bridge, first published in 2018. She also initiated the provision of around 15 portable ramps to town centre businesses. She famously described herself as a "wobbly walker."
We have missed her greatly since she stepped back from HBDAF due to her illness, but her influence will continue.
Rest peacefully Frances. 18 May 2021

From Jewel Chadwick So sad to lose Frances' feisty energies, such a genuine source of determined goodwill. My pictures of her start with inebriated chats in the Trades where she spoke so bravely open on her difficulties - with fiercely sorted sense.
Seeing her enthusiatically still coping with camps - and MC/organising excellent folk sessions and committed to Redacre development, Frances has made kind, positive contributions to this valley's soul. I'm sure she goes with eyes, heart and spirit well open sharing skills and strength to evolve into deeper and wiser realms.
Blessed be :) XXX 21 May 2021
From Robert Tarpey: I first met Frances in 1984 when she was 17 and her first year of volunteering at crisis at Christmas. Crisis is a charity to house and look after rough sleepers. We have remained friends ever since.I will miss you Frances. Here's some kisses xxx 9 June 2021
