Geese
From John Nesbitt

I was told at the Co-op bus stop today that the geese who hang out in the Methodist church gardens are no longer allowed there, resulting in them spending more time in the adjacent car park or taking their chances crossing Market St. One has already been run over. Anyone with any (possibly more authoritative) information?

One of the highlights of a trip to Hebden Bridge is seeing the white geese 'flotilla' in residence in the Methodist gardens.
Surely they arent causing any problems. People who are afraid of them can step away. They can be feisty but a lot of it is just show.
I admire their spirit. They also have a need to graze. Surely they should have rights too.

Unfortunately some of the people who attend the Methodist church do get frightened by the geese. They can appear quite aggressive, though in 20+ years of attending the Methodist and walking along the towpath I have never been attacked by a goose. It's all show! Perhaps we need to invite people to get to know a goose.
