Hebden Royd Swimming Pool Fund

Does anyone know what has happened to the funds collected in order to build a swimming pool in Hebden Bridge/ Mytholmroyd?
Are there still plans for a swimming pool for Hebden Royd, or have the funds disappeared without a trace?

This question comes up every couple of years, and we never get a satisfactory answer. The money (about £850,000 at the last count) seems to sit in a bank account somewhere, and chunks of it get used now and again to pay for architect's plans and planning applications, none of which result in anything actually being built.
Do we really need a swimming pool in Mytholmroyd or Hebden Bridge? Maybe with the closure of Halifax pool there is more justification for this idea, but has anyone really thought about how it would work in practice? Running costs for a swimming pool are very high, and I've never been convinced that revenue funding for this project has been properly thought through.
Maybe the time has come to call it a day and use this money for something useful, instead of leaving it mouldering away and benefiting nobody.
