Anti-Vax protest

For those of us still shielding vulnerable loved ones, yesterday's anti-vax / anti-lockdown protest was an ugly reminder that some of our community are perfectly relaxed about putting the rest of us at risk.
Having dozens of drivers blasting their car horns through the centre of town in support was insulting and insensitive to all of those who have suffered great losses during this pandemic, and also to the frontline NHS staff who have worked tirelessly to keep us all safe.
The sinister inclusion of young children in their protest, the handing out of Far Right literature and the heckling of mask wearers, was a depressing reminder that England has a very ugly underbelly.
I hope, for all of those who found this protest distressing, and for the town's businesses - who have suffered enough over the course of this pandemic and who are now being subject to this disruption and noise, that this protest was a one off.

I think that it should be acknowledged that people may feel very differently about Coronavirus. Some people may still feel very anxious when out and about, especially if they are vulnerable, and they should be allowed to wear masks and keep a distance if they want to.
Hebden Bridge has always been known for being a friendly town that respects difference, and is welcoming to people. It would be very sad to lose that because of the pandemic.
