Protecting mature landmark trees
From Ms. P. Finch
Sunday, 27 June 2021
It is always sad when a mature tree is felled no matter what species or ecological arguments may justify the felling. I am currently wondering how to save some very mature trees near me which could be seen as venerable landmark trees - an ash and a horse chestnut.
Both are significant features in the landscape. Neither has a TPO protection on it despite requests for the same.
This is largely due to only one tree officer dealing with TPOs in Calderdale as far as I know. He is helpful but overworked. This has to change. i will be asking questions of relevant councillors when I can.
