Handmade Parade

Congratulations to all those involved with the Handmade Parade. It was magnificent as ever and the sun shone (quite rightly) and there were smiles on everyone's faces - quite wonderful to see. What a pity that those with the ways and means to do something about the parking difficulties in our area can't do something to make it easier for all those people who choose to visit even if it's only for the short term. The Walkley's area springs to mind.

J Hartley, thanks for your comments. We were really pleased with this year's event: each year we seemed to have a deeper level of engagement from the community, the artwork gets a bit better each year and the crowds seem to get bigger and bigger!
Certainly agree that parking is a big issue for events in our narrow valley but I'm encouraged to see how many thousands of people found a way into Hebden by train, bike or foot for the Tour de France.
Maybe the solution is not making the town more car-friendly but putting more energy into asking people to plan ahead and find other ways of coming to Hebden on a big event day.
