Save our forests
From Andrew Hall

As you are probably aware, the government is proposing a large scale sell off of much of our woodland. Despite reassurances that public access arrangements will be safguarded, the scale and nature of such access is uncertain.
And what happens at national level could well have ramifications for our local woodland, much of which is owned by Calderdale Council. What better way of raising money for a cash-strapped council than selling off surplus land!
Let's nip this one in the bud and ensure it becomes a privatisation that never happens. For starters, there's a petition which you can add your name to.

As well as the 38 degrees petition that Andrew's given a link to, there's another being done by the Woodland Trust - please sign both!

I just heard, this coming Wednesday there will be a vote in Parliament on a motion demanding a rethink of plans to sell the forests. This vote is only happening because of the outcry there's been!
The '38 degrees' campaign suggest that if enough people contact MPs now, we've got a real chance of winning this vote! They've got a webpage which makes it easy to email your MP, you just put your postcode in and it finds their address.
Please pass this on. Thanks, Ben
