I refer to the item on the front page of Hebweb stating that "Hebden Bridge couples will no longer need to make the journey to the Registry Office in Halifax in order to tie the knot." Great news that the Town Hall is arranging a licence! But it might be worth saying that Hope Baptist Church (along with St. James and Hebden Bridge Methodist Church) have for a long time offered the same facility!

Good point, Karen. But I can do a good non-religious wedding! And I’m waiting for my denomination’s position on gays and lesbians to change (to my frustration it might be a long wait).

Our marriage consisted of a quick legal ‘ceremony’ at a registry office and then, a few months later, a humanist ceremony at a place and format of our choice without restriction.
