A match made in heaven: The younger daughter of the Tilston-Boyle music dynasty and the guitarist from Merseyside rock band The Coral. Molly Jones and Lee Southall produce thought-provoking, melodic and unbelievably catchy songs linking acoustic folk, blues and beyond.
Molly has spent much of her music avoiding the traditions of folk and looking for a broader range of influences. Lee’s journey has been in the other direction. Having been in a band that had chart hits, been Mercury prize and NME album of the year finalists, he was looking for the new (to him) guitar styles found in folk and blues. This put Molly and Lee on a collision course and their partnership has created a rich vein of creativity much appreciated inside and outside the ‘folk world’.
They met in Liverpool and set up home near Hebden Bridge and have been playing gigs since earlier this year including a couple of appearances at Steve Tilston’s Trades Roots at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge.
