Monday, July 17, 2006 Do you have a bit of time to spare this summer to volunteer to help Calderdale's wildlife? Would you like to help us put Calderdale's hedgerows on the map? Calderdale Council has received funding from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to carry out a hedgerow survey this summer in Calderdale. The grant will pay for volunteers to work with council officers to establish a network of people who will coordinate a survey of the hedgerows in the district. Edie Jolley, Volunteer Biodiversity Action Plan Coordinator for the Countryside Service said: "People might think that Calderdale is mostly dry-stone wall country however there are areas where hedgerows are common and many may be historically important.
