With the release of the feature film Sylvia, there has been renewed media interest in our locality and in the part it has played in the lives of poets Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath.

Today, Camilion Films were in Hebden Bridge making Ted Hughes: His Life and Loss to go out on BBC next Sunday evening (15th Feb). The programme features Yorkshire poet Ian McMillan interviewing four different writers and academics about Hughes, Plath and their work.

Hebden Bridge's Elaine Connell, who runs the popular Sylvia Plath Forum, is one of those featured and is pictured above being filmed at home with Ian McMillan. On 30th January, BBC Look North did a feature on how the film promoting interest inthe Calder Valley. This also featured Ms Connell, and Donald Crossley of Mytholmroyd, a boyhood friend of Ted Hughes.
