New Wet Play Area - Calder Holmes Park

Tuesday, 6 January 2009

Wet play workFollowing on from the new play ground in Calder Holmes Park further work has started. Installing the wet play area in anticipation of a return to warmer times started on Monday and is expected to be completed within the week.

Funded by grants from the Green Business Network and Hebden Royd Town Council the old paddling pool will be transformed into a free giant sand pit with flowing water running through a series of 'sinks, trays and channels'. Following the installation of the equipment basic plumbing work will be completed and when the weather improves the hand pump will be added.

Jason Boom, Environmental Community Warden for Hebden Royd Town Council who is managing the project told the Hebden Bridge Web, 'Having seen the fun that can be had in the sand pit during the last two summers it will be great to have it available all year round. While the water will only be switched on in warmer times the equipment will allow children to dig, build, sculpt and even eat sand throughout the year'.
