Bring your parade ideas to the Community Consultation Meeting on Tuesday 24th February, 7pm at the White Lion in Bridge Gate The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is set to return to the town this summer thanks to the support of Arts Council England, Yorkshire and Lloyds TSB – and organisers expect it to be even bigger and brighter than last year! “Last year’s Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade was a fantastic success,” Mel Rix, of HEADS told the Hebden Bridge Web. “The reaction from those who took part in the workshops before the event, and from those who joined in the parade or witnessed it, was pure delight. We’re so pleased that we will once again be able to organise such a fantastic community event in the town." “This year, we hope to reach more participants by offering master classes for adults and older children in parade skills such as stilting, giant puppet making and mask making. Also, look for the re-emergence of a Hebden Bridge Samba band!” said parade artistic director Andrew Kim. A community consultation evening takes place at 7pm on Tuesday 24th February at the White Lion in Bridge Gate. This will be an opportunity for individuals, groups and artists to talk about what they would like to see in the parade and how they can get involved. “Everyone is welcome to come along to the consultation event and bring their creative ideas,” added Mel Rix. Parade organisers are also looking for one additional lead artist (see below) and dozens of volunteers to help at workshops, to distribute publicity and to steward on the day. Attend the 24th February consultation event, email HEADS (info@heads.org.uk) or call 01422 846060 to offer your time and even learn the art of stilt walking! “We’d welcome contact from anyone who’d like to get involved,” said Mel Rix. “There is also a free copy of the 2008 parade evaluation booklet available if anyone would like one.” Parade Artist wanted The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is looking for one parade artist to join our team of lead parade artists to design and produce this year's parade.
