Darwinian theme for Hebden Bridge Arts Festival

Monday, 26 January 2009

Last year’s Hebden Bridge Arts Festival was a huge success – and the 2009 Festival promises another fantastic mix of theatre, music, dance and art.

This time around, the Festival will be celebrating the bicentenary of Darwin’s birth, with an exciting strand of events under the banner Evolution, Revolution. Organisers of the Festival are already busy booking major acts and creating a varied programme with something for everyone.

Open Meeting

Anyone interested in getting involved with the Festival is invited to an open meeting on Wednesday 4 February at 7.30pm at the Arts Festival Shop, Albert Street, Hebden Bridge.  As well as a chance to meet the organisers, attendees can sign up for volunteering in the box office and other areas where help is needed.  The Festival is particularly keen to hear from people with experience in marketing, database management and fundraising.

Local artists invited to share in Festival’s success

It’s hard to think of summer when there’s snow on the hills, but plans are already well underway for the 2009 Hebden Bridge Art Festival in July.

Organisers are busy lining up an exciting and varied programme of theatre, music and drama and are now inviting local artists to take part by publicising their exhibitions or events in the widely-distributed brochure and on the Festival website.

Any artist who would like to have a listing in the programme can e-mail hbfestival@gmail.com or leave a message on the Festival answer machine at 01422 842684. The deadline for inclusion is February 21.  Local businesses who would like to take out a listing or wish to sponsor a Festival event, are also asked to get in touch.

The 2009 Festival will run from Friday 26 June to Sunday 12 July.  To keep in touch with plans, visit www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/festival or email hbfestival@gmail.com.
