Calder High's GCSE results for those receiving five or more GCSEs, including Maths and English, remain the same as last year (52%). There are 13 "comprehensives" in Calderdale and Calder High was beaten only by Brighouse High (59%). These "comprehensive" schools are not really comprehensive as there remain two selective schools in the area.
The value added score in the sixth column is designed to measure the improvement that pupils make during their secondary education. It compares tests sat by every pupil at the end of primary school with their current GCSE grades and also takes into account social factors such as local deprivation. The score is a figure based around 1000 and ranges from 1090 to 930. Schools which score highly are making the biggest difference for pupils.
Calder High's A level results are the best of all the region's "comprehensives", and even better than the region's independents schools such as Rishworth and Huddersfield New College.
