Park railings facelift Tuesday, 11 August 2009 Slowly but surely the railings in Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge are receiving a much needed face lift. The West Yorkshire Probation Service throughout the summer have been rubbing down and repainting all the railings in the park. Twice a week a team of offenders completing there unpaid work orders descend on the park and move the painted section a little further along the canal bank. ""After many weeks of hard graft we are now on the home straight" said Jason Boom Environmental Community Warden for Hebden Royd Town Council who has been coordinating the work. "Calderdales Parks and Streetscene Department have provided us with the paint, up to date over 50 five litre tins have been used, and we have been working our way around the whole of the parks' railings. ''Its been a long slog but the unpaid workers have done a great job that is much appreciated." There is some good news for the workers however as CMBC have decided to remove a section of fencing approximately 80 metres long to open up the rear of the park close to Station Road.
