Picture House to screen films in
celebration of Roger Boggís life

Hebden Bridge Picture House is proud to be running three screenings in August in memory of Roger Bogg, the cinema’s long-standing projectionist, who died in June this year.

Roger’s enormous love of cinema and everything to do with the film industry is being celebrated and remembered in a selection of his favourite titles.

On Wednesday 12th August, there will be a Buster Keaton double bill, with Sherlock JR (U) and The General (U) at 7:30pm. This is followed on Thursday 13th August with the Wizard of Oz (U) at 10:30am & 7:30pm

All screenings will be preceded by the superb short film ‘The Projectionist’, shot at the Picture House in 2007, and ‘Better than Sex’; another beautiful short from Chameleon TV that featured Roger’s thoughts on projection and the magic of cinema.

Roger, who was 63, worked at Hebden Bridge Picture House for more than 40 years, and was renowned through Yorkshire for his dedication to film.

Tickets may be bought in advance direct from the Picture House during opening hours, or on the door at the screenings. Tickets are £4.50 each, and profits will be re-invested in the cinema.

Jonny Courtney, manager of Hebden Bridge Picture House, told the Hebden Bridge Web: “These films are a celebration of Roger’s life and times at the Picture House. We have chosen films that we are sure would have pleased him immensely.”
