Hebden Bridge’s Little Theatre Garden gets make over

Hebden Bridge’s amateur community theatre has always punched above its weight in terms of professionalism. But its little garden has been missing out. After a dramatic make over a number of years back, it has been left to go wild. This Friday, O2’s Annette Hollaway will lead a team of 8 volunteers from the nearby O2 Centre in Leeds to Hebden Bridge for a bit of January gardening.

Not many office teams would brave West Yorkshire’s January weather for a spot of voluntary gardening – but this group from O2 will be out to shed a few of the Christmas pounds and warm up with a bit of digging and bramble clearing.

‘If there is anyway that we at O2 can help our local communities we will try,” said O2’s Annette Holloway, when asked what she hoped her team would achieve. ‘We hope to make the Hebden Bridge Little Theatre’s brambly garden back into the community space that it once was, for all to enjoy.’

Jason Boom, Hebden Bridge’s, Environmental Community Warden told the Hebden Bridge Web, ‘We are delighted that O2 is helping us.’ he continued ‘We have been fighting a loosing battle against the weeds and the brambles, but with O2’s */It’s Your Community /*programme we can change all that and make the garden a place for Hebden Bridge to be proud of.’

Each month up to 60 projects throughout the UK receive up to £1000 of It’s Your Community funding. Awards must be for the benefit of the community or to build community spirit.
