Rail improvements for Hebden Bridge

Tuesday, 27 May 2008

Faster journey times between Hebden Bridge and Manchester, more trains and trains with three carriages during peak periods are promised for our Caldervale line.

Network Rail has begun talking to West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority about the shake-up, which will alter the stopping patterns of existing services.

Consultation will start soon with the hope of changes by the end of the year, or from December.

Three through trains an hour are planned between Hebden Bridge, and Manchester Victoria instead of two, so from December, according to the Courier report there could be an extra 24 trains a day stopping at Hebden Bridge. But Mytholmroyd, as is being discussed in our Forum, will lose one train per hour.

See Courier report - it has been pointed out to the Hebden Bridge Web that this report uses figures from May 2007 not May 2008, so it probably means only 4 extra trains a day.
