Thanksgiving Day is one of America’s biggest family events traditionally held on the last Thursday of November so the Trades Club dinner is on November 27th from 5.30pm.

The club’s chef will be putting on a full thanksgiving meal of turkey, a quorn alternative, mashed potatoes, glazed sweet potatoes, vegetables, gravy and all the trimmings. There will also be American cocktails available to make the event go with a swing.

Everyone enjoying dinner will able to relive the historic moment when a black American became the 44th President as his victory speech - and other notable excerpts - will be played on the club’s big screen.

“The Trades Club membership and customers come from across the progressive political spectrum but we are all united by a sense of history being made when Barack Obama was elected President,” Trades Club Secretary Ern Jones told the Hebden Bridge Web.

“So what better way for our members and the people of Hebden to celebrate Barack's great victory than tucking into a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for all the family and listen to Barack’s victory speech once again.

“We share the hopes of millions of Americans that the new President will usher in a new progressive style of politics that will tackle fundamental issues like climate change and we’re delighted he is already committed to shutting down Guantanemo Bay. We may not have had a change to vote him in but we can at least share a meal to celebrate his election and wish him well over the next four years."

The Thanksgiving dinner is likely to be a very popular event so you can a book a place by contacting the Trades  on 01422 845265.
