Skate Park YouTube Premier

Following its premier at the trades club, Hebden Bridge on Friday 23rd Nov you can now see the film on You Tube. Explaining why the space is so well used and the desperate need for its expansion it starts the rugged path towards the development of a larger skate park for Hebden Bridge.

A video destined for You Tube will be premiered at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge next Sunday Evening (23rd Nov). Shot in late September at Calder Holmes Park skate park it features boarders pulling 'ollies', 'grabs' and 'grinds'. The whole aim of the film is to showcase the park as its users work towards raising funds for a extension to the skating area.

'We've been trying to get the skating area increased for the last 6 months and already have a few sample designs' said Damian Lund (19) who regularly uses the skate park. 'The Friends of Calder Holmes Park have been preparing a number of applications for funding and we wanted to help where we can and this seemed like a great idea to do that,' he added.

Jason Boom, Environmental Warden for Hebden Royd told the Hebden Bridge Web, "We've been looking at an extension for a while to this extremely well used facility. It used to be a really grotty part of town but we have throughout the summer seen the users respecting the park a lot more and it's about time we started to reward that improvement in behavior. This seems to be what many of the younger park users want so we are looking to develop this. We hope to possibly landscape the area and build into it a viewing area, possibly even a shelter. We've even identified one with a bluetooth connection so users will be able to exchange music files while down there.'

Lasting 15 minutes the film will be posted on You Tube following its premier that evening. There will also be a running of 'Baghead Flats' a film shot in and around Wakefield and featuring Hebden Bridge Skate Pro Mike Wright.

Starting at 7pm the evening will finish no later than 10pm with an entry fee of £2.50 which will go straight towards the extension.
