Calder High results disappoint. For 2-3 years, Calder High has received GCSE results of above national average, ie, over 60% gaining 5 or more GCSEs at grades A-C. This year the percentage has gone right down to 42%. This compares to a national average of 45.8%.

Admittedly, the Government have moved the goalpost slightly. The 5 A-C GCSEs must now include Maths and English. Under the old system Calder High would have 53% with 5 A-C GCSEs compared with a national average of 59.2%

As we have commented before, given the catchment area Calder High GCSE results should be well above the national average. The school has one of the lowest value added scores in Calderdale: only the Ridings, St Catherines and Tod High are lower.

Calder High 'A' level results were also below average.

Increasingly, Hebden Bridge students are travelling across the border to Kirklees for their post-16 education so we have included A levels results for Huddersfield New College and Greehhead College, Huddersfield.

Only one Calderdale school made the list of 100 most improved: Brighouse High at no 83.
