Keeping it Local
New Economics Foundation workshop in Hebden Bridge
on Jan 11th 2008

added Wednesday, 19 December 2007

The New Economics Foundation is the national 'think and do' tank on economics that put people and the planet first. They produced the report 'Clone town Britain' in which Hebden Bridge came out tops as being the town with the least number of chain stores.

They have been successfully running a project called Plugging the Link with several towns across Britain which helps to strengthen the local economy by tracking the money and seeing where it goes. The aim is to keep as much of the money in the area as possible through sourcing goods, services and staff locally.

They are expanding this project to look at other resource flows and have offered to run a workshop on the 11th January here in Hebden Bridge as part of the piloting of the project. The workshop will run from 1.30 – 5 pm.

There are still some places left on this limited number workshop. If you are interested in coming along, please contact the ATC on  01422 842121 or info@alternativetechnology.org.uk
