Town Centre spelling

I know there are some spelling pedants who read this forum, so I am sending a photo of the banner now drapped over the former Tourist Information Centre in the centre of Hebden Bridge. People may wonder if such carelessness typifies the Hebden Bridge Business Association and its members. Or it could be that Hebden Bridge is now so independant (!) that it has its own spelling.

Only one example of many, Mattie. It's examples like this that reinforce (untrue) stereotypes about thick Northerners, but there again we are talking about the HB Business Association here - hardly the sharpest knives in the local drawer, so I'm told.

Yes, absolutely hilarious! Hebden Bridge receives national recognition (again) and all you can do is criticise a minor error!
Jack, if youíre so concerned and so critical of HBBA then why not offer them constructive advice. Current initiatives such as Time2Share and TimeBank enable you to offer your expert services on a voluntary basis.

Yes, what is that 'Triger Guns' place all about? How do you pronounce it? And why does it appear to be closed in the evening? Is it a gun club, or a lap-dancing parlour? Is it run by a dyslexic assassin? Has anyone investigated? I think we should be told...

Oscar, I'm not "so concerned and so critical of HBBA". My point was simply that childish spelling mistakes such as this do no-one any favours, and ultimately reduce the organisation's perceived credibility. Oh, and if HBBA are interested in my pedantry/proofreading services, they can jolly well pay for them. "Voluntary basis?" The cheek!

Triger Guns - first I assumed it was a very bad spelling mistake, then when I saw more than one sign with the same spelling, I thought maybe it was a trade name - Triger (rhyming with tiger) might be the name of the owner?
However, the Halifax Courier seem to think it's spelt Trigger
I'm not sure if the gun-toting customer in this article gave the pub its name, or whether a pub with that name attracts people with guns (who can't spell) - it doesn't attract me!

I see that said banner has now been amended, and now adopts the conventional spelling. Full marks to the HBBA for promptness! As for the Triger place, I have no idea - I assumed it was just idiosycratic spelling, or maybe they ran out of paint. While we're on the subject, however, has anyone else noticed the "Jubillee Street" sign in Mytholmrroid?
