Katrina aftermath - inside a FEMA Detainment CampPosted by Richard Hull Please everyone - push this story to everyone you can - it scares me rigid. FEMA - the now infamous Federal Emergency Management Agency - are "detaining" evacuees from New Orleans in what can only be described as a concentration camp: and here for a shortened version Posted by Steve Whilst not perfect, the relief effort in and around New Orleans is exactly that - a relief effort. Although the term "concentration camp" has been in use for centuries, begining during the Boer war in South Africa. I am of the opionion that Richard Hull used the phrase for its shock effect created by its modern association to Nazi Germany. I feel that this was an insult to the many thousands who suffered and died in these camps and that this post was written more as an cheap shot at the United States Government than as social comment! NB: the Hebden Bridge Web is much less inclined to post messages which do not have real email addresses. |
