Land opposite the old Hawksclough bridgePosted by Lou Not too long ago an old derelict building immediately on the Mytholmroyd side of the land was transformed into a home. Gradually a very small garden was developed, which began to extend on to the piece of land. Now, what has been used for many, many years as a public right of way at the side of this building, between the main road at Hawksclough and the canal path, has changed. The land has been marked off with small pegs, and the way through the wall to the canal path has been blocked off. A new way through has been knocked through a little further along on the Hebden Bridge side. So what is going on? Who does the land belong to? I understood Calderdale maintained the whole of the piece of land, and therefore owned it. Anyone out there in the know? Posted by Fran I know the place you are talking about. We've used that route onto the canal towpath for years. We decided to check it out today. The steps have gone and a rockery seems to be in it's place. There are some paving flags in place further along now - not very safe one's either. Anybody else know anything about this right of way being diverted? See Mytholmroyd Net for news item with photos |
