I occasionally use Amazon.co.uk (not .com) for books - but they are invariably ordered at, say, 11pm on a Sunday evening. I work long hours, and so can only get to a "proper" bookshop on Saturday - when there is a lot of competition for my time. When I *do* get to visit bookshops (which I do as often as I can) - the only immediate choice is what is on display (which is inevitable, of course). I might order a book - if I know it exists, of course, but to search for something relevent I'd use my PC - and then order it from Amazon!
How about installing a computer with book search facilities in your shop?
